The Regulatory Development and Planning program within the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) Division of Air Pollution Control (DAPC) provides regulatory support and guidance for the implementation of the Clean Air Act (CAA) and state air quality rules/regulations. The Division is seeking a TDEC-Environmental Consultant 3 (TDEC-ENCN3) in the Regulatory Development and Planning Program in the Nashville Central office to serve as a senior-level technical lead focusing on the development of air pollution control regulations and State Implementation Plans (SIPs) for compliance with federal Clean Air Act (CAA) and Tennessee's Air Pollution Control Regulation (TAPCR)
requirements. This position requires direct interaction with TDEC Management/Leadership, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), permitted facilities, industry association representatives, other state air
pollution control agencies, local air agencies, and the public regarding the development and documentation of strategies to meet the requirements of the CAA, National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), and State of Tennessee Regulatory Requirements.
The preferred candidate for this position will lead research and collaborative projects with internal and external resources to draft, edit, and review the Division's SIPs and rulemaking documents. The TDEC-ENCN3 will also apply
technical skills and regulatory understanding to ensure the Division's proposals and initiatives meet federal and state requirements. The preferred candidate for this position will ideally have five years of experience with state and federal air pollution control regulations, excellent writing/verbal communication, coordination, problem-solving, and project leadership skills, and be team oriented.
