Training Facility

Location

The CMAS Training Facility is located at 137 E. Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. Our offices are on the 6th floor. Take the elevators on the north side of the building. If you are entering from Franklin Street, walk past the murals and Bank of America. If you are entering from the parking deck on Rosemary Street, the elevators are just inside the glass doors when you enter the building. Once you get up to the sixth floor, walk through the glass door and straight down the hall. The training facility is located near the end of the hall on the right. If you drive to the training, make sure to park in the Rosemary parking deck (pictured below on the right side of the right photo). You will have to pay $6 to enter. Driving Directions

Training Equipment

Our training facility is equipped with state of the art equipment. Smaller-sized (enrollment) BenMAP classes will often be held in the Institute for the Environment's Environmental Visualization Lab (pictured below). The EVL Lab features Quad-Core Mac Pros, dual, 30" cinema screens, Windows Virtualization, and a 77" smart board system. For CMAQ and SMOKE training and larger class sizes, we use 10 Lenova R400 laptops running Windows 7 (64-bit), and classes are held in the Institute's spacious conference room that is also equipped with a 77" smart board system. CMAQ and SMOKE classes will log into a virtual desktop running Ubuntu.
