About the Course

This is an introductory course for CMAQ that includes the basics about the purposes of the CMAQ programs and how to run the programs and evaluate the results. We cover topics such as how to reconfigure for a different grid, episode, and other program options. Prerequisites

A basic knowledge of air quality modeling concepts are essential for getting the most out of this course. The course does not discuss the purpose of air quality modeling, the necessity of emissions processing, or the use of grids for simulating the atmosphere. In the basic course, air quality terminology and concepts are reviewed, but prior knowledge of such concepts is helpful. A very basic knowledge of UNIX is also helpful, such as editing text files, changing directories, and listing directory contents. However, all UNIX commands needed for running CMAQ are provided in the lab assignments.
