    Job Description:
    GDIT provides air quality modeling support under two US Environmental Protection Agency contracts. The GDIT Air Quality Modeling program performs development, testing, implementation, and evaluation of emissions, meteorological, and air quality models.
    • Engages in initiating, designing, developing, executing, and implementing scientific research projects.
    • Plans and conducts scientific testing and prepares comprehensive technical reports, data reports, and other publications.
    • Develops theories for understanding, characterizing and organizing natural phenomena into a systematic and meaningful pattern for research into new process methods.

    Required Qualifications:
    • BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, meteorology, or other scientific/mathematical field + 3 yrs experience
    • Prior experience with air quality models such as CMAQ and/or CAMx
    • Experience working in a Linux operating system environment
    • Working knowledge of Unix scripting languages (e.g. bash, csh, sed, awk, perl)
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

    Other Qualifications Desired:
    • Experience with air quality model evaluation and analysis tools
    • Working knowledge of python, FORTRAN, R, SAS
    • Experience with GIS systems ArcGIS, QGIS and/or Google Earth

    The likely salary range for this position is $72,000 - $108,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
